Q:  How to find inspiration for a painting?

I can draw and I can paint but I cannot find inspiration and often get bored halfway through painting something, I really want to be artistic though, but can never work out what to do, any tips

A:
Inspiration is truely everywhere. I'm inspired by media, nature, outer-space, just about everything inspires me. I do use photographs as reference pieces for my paintings but most of the time they don't have my whole concept so I'll find other images that I want to incorporate into my one picture. For instance I recently painted two giraffes wearing headphones eating a tree branch, for my reference pieces I used a photo of two giraffes, a photo of a tree branch, and a photo of a dog wearing headphones then combined them to create my vision. If you're getting bored halfway through your painting, you're just loosing patience. All artist struggle with this at some point but you just have to push through it. I usually paint with music that I really enjoy because it keeps me focused and excited. Certain parts of a painting aren't as fun to work on as others but you must do it if you want to create your master piece. Another thing that may get your creative juices flowing is watching a movie about art, or watch another artist paint, that usually does the trick for me. Well happy Creating!

Q: How do you paint blurs? Specifically, acrylic paint?

A: Usually when I'm using acrylic paint and I want to make something blurred I paint the basic structure then go over it with water before it dries..not too much water but just enough to make the paint not look so prominent or defined. This approach also works for making things look like they're glowing

Q: I need advice drawing manga?

I bought the monster book of manga and I'm struggling to fill in the rough sketches I mean it's kinda bumming me because after long consideration I decided i want to be an animator (different story altogether) I would love to have some advice on how to improve my skills because I'd love to to do this thank you very much for your time ( I have an idea for a manga collection I think It will be successful I just need to develop my skills)

A: Well 1st of all don't be discouraged, as we all know if you want to be great at something it's going to take practice, practice, practice! I personally love Manga and I thought it would be easy to just freehand but I quickly learned I too needed some assistance. I referenced books "How To Draw Ultimate Man" Volumes 1-3 http://www.amazon.com/How-To-Draw-Manga-Graphic-Sha/dp/4766115244 I also rented books from my local library because they had books specifically on how to draw creatures, monsters, & machines all in a Manga style, and since I rented them from the library I didn't have to pay a penny. These books have great drawing exercises that will have you drawing your favorite characters in no time!!

Q: I have wrote poetry for years and here in the last year I have had a major block. How do I get past that? I really miss writing - does this happen to you? (submitted thru Sarabellumlab.com

A: Oh yes even when you're intensely creative and passionate about something a block will come, but you have to remember it’s just that, a block, a block that you can move out of your way. A lot of times we are just frustrated that the thoughts aren’t coming to us as easily as we would like them to, but writing is just like any other talent you must exercise it to maintain it. I suggest the best way to get rid of your writers block is to just start somewhere, look at a flower and see what thoughts come to you and then write them down, you may surprise yourself by what you come up with. Also don't judge yourself while you’re doing it, most of the times it's our own criticism that gets in the way of our productivity. Play music, light insense or candles, set the mood so that you'll feel inspired to create. I have often found myself searching for a direction creatively but I have found that my creativity never really left, it's just all a matter of getting started and doing something, and 9/10 times I am surprised by the outcome! So get to writing and move that block out of your way! I'm sure you will come up with something great! 05/31/2012

Q: Can philosophy, a dreamer and poetry all work together?

Or do each have a better chance on their own?

A: Interesting question. I Have to say that they all sound like the perfect combination to me. Most poets are philosophers, they give their perspective in a lyrical form but to do so and do it well they have to have really thought and analyzed a subject on all sides. An artist in any form must be a dreamer in my opinion, someone who is looking outside of the normal realm and into a vision. So to answer your question, Yes!

Q: How do I stop comparing myself to others?

A: Usually when we begin to compare ourselves to another person we are thinking, " Am I better, or worse than that individual?" Instead of doing that, just look at yourself and ask "can I be better than this reflection in the mirror?" At the end of day there is only one you and God designed it that way for a specific purpose, spend your time definining what your purpose is. Before you know it people will be comparing themselves to you (if they're not already). But by then it won't even matter

Q: What should I write my love story about ?
So I need to write a love story but I don't know what to write it about ??

A:  Well since you know it's going to be a Love Story it sounds like you're off to good start as far as a direction. I would suggest you pull from your past experiences, friends experiences, or even the fantasy love you've always dreamed about for yourself, or possibly a combination of all of these inspirations. Don't bore anyone with a perfect story, be sure to add some suprise and conflict to be followed by a resolution. This is your book so your imagination should write the plot. Keep the creative juices flowing!!
